Chief Julie Dijkstra Julie was appointed chief by Mayor Larry Thompson in November 2010. A graduate of NorthWood High School and Ball State University, Julie's career in law enforcement began in She was promoted as the sheriff's chief deputy in 2003 and served in the role for eight years before returning home to Nappanee to lead the police department. Julie is married to Egbert Dijkstra and has three sons, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter. She is a member of the Nappanee Rotary Club, and a board member with The Crossing alternative education program, the Salvation Army of Goshen and Safe Kids Elkhart County. |

Capt. Doug Weaver A lifelong resident of Nappanee, Doug was hired by the city in November 1991. He has served in various ranks during his 20-year career, from patrolman to assistant chief. He has been the patrol captain since 2010. Doug is a 1982 graduate of NorthWood High School, and was a member of class 92-109 of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. |

Capt. Brook Germann A graduate of Indiana University South Bend with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Brook has been with the city since January 1996, and was promoted to captain in January 2012. Among his accomplishments, he has trained at the Southern Police Institute's school for homicide investigation and at the Wicklander-Zulawski school for advanced interview and interrogation techniques.

Sgt. Terry Chanley Hired in October 1995, Terry earned his associate's degree in conservation law enforcement from Vincennes University and his bachelor's in criminal justice from Ball State University. Terry is a field training officer and an accident reconstructionist. |

Sgt. Brad Balasa and Hess Brad has been with the city since May 2000, and currently serves as a K9 officer with his partner, Hess. Brad also is a field training officer |

Sgt. Josh Harner A year before joining the Nappanee Police Department in 1998, Josh earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University South Bend, with a major in criminal justice and a minor in sociology. Josh earned his promotion to sergeant in February 2011. |
