A commitment
to keep our
community safe

Nappanee's police officers don't just respond to calls for assistance.

Every day, they are in the community — meeting
with residents, getting to know business owners,
and working with school children— to maintain our peaceful city.

  Special units

Elkhart County Interdiction and Covert Enforcement
The City of Nappanee participates in the county's undercover and special enforcement unit, overseen by the Elkhart County prosecutor's office.

Bicycle patrol
Nappanee officers work more closely with homeowners around the city by riding bikes on patrol in the spring, summer and fall. Currently, our officers and reserves both are assigned to the bike patrol.

School resource officer
In partnership with Wa-Nee Community Schools, Patrolman Steve Rulli is assigned to work at NorthWood and other buildings. An officer stationed at the schools helps build trust and better relationships with students, and gives our staff valuable information to prevent and solve crimes.

K9
Sgt. Brad Balasa and his K9 partner, Hess, work throughout the community. Hess is specially trained to detect illegal drugs and apprehend fleeing suspects.
