Law enforcement Handgun permits |
Handgun permits The state of Indiana requires residents wishing to obtain a handgun permit to apply through the police department with primary jurisdiction. Nappanee residents may submit their application online by clicking here. After submitting the application, residents may come to the police station to be fingerprinted. At that time, they will receive the information to send to the Indiana State Police to complete the application process. Generally, successful applicants will receive their permit from the state in about 12 weeks. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The local fee to submit an application is $10 for a four-year permit, $40 for a lifetime permit (if currently licensed), or $50 for a lifetime permit (if not currently licensed).
